WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (July 15, 2016) – First-rounder Zack Collins went 3-for-4 with a three-run homer during the Dash’s eight-run fourth, which was more than enough in a 10-4 series-clinching win for Winston-Salem over Potomac in front of 5,284 fans at BB&T Ballpark.

With Winston-Salem (10-11, 38-53) already in front 4-0 and men at first and second with two outs in the fourth, Collins belted his first professional home run into the Foothills Brew Pen in left-center. Collins, the 10th overall pick in last month’s MLB Draft, added two singles and a walk in his Dash debut, which was also his fourth professional game.

After going scoreless throughout the first three innings, the Dash quickly put the game out of reach in the fourth. With a runner on first and nobody out, Toby Thomas crushed a two-run homer to left against Potomac starter Matthew Crownover (0-4) to put the Dash up two.

Later in the frame, with the bases loaded and still nobody out, Gerson Montilla drew a bases-loaded walk to make it 3-0. After a fielder’s choice, Trey Lambert relieved Crownover and immediately gave up a Nick Basto sacrifice fly and Collins’ three-run dinger. Michael Suiter smashed an RBI single to cap the inning and give the Dash an 8-0 lead.

On the mound, Spencer Adams (8-7) dazzled in his first start back from an ankle injury he sustained during his outing on July 6. The right-hander tossed six frames and allowed six hits and two earned runs. His lone blemish was a two-run blast by Drew Vettleson with nobody out in the seventh. In three starts against the P-Nats (13-7, 47-41), the 20-year-old is 3-0 with a 2.45 ERA.

Winston-Salem added a run in the seventh and eighth on RBI doubles from Suiter and Thomas, respectively. Suiter finished the game going 4-for-5 with two RBIs, while Thomas went 4-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs. Both men matched career-highs with their four hits.

The five-through-eight batters in the Dash’s lineup (Collins, Telvin Nash, Thomas and Suiter) reached in 16 of their 20 plate appearances.

Behind Adams, Kelvis Valerio picked up the three-inning save, allowing a solo blast to Vettleson and an RBI double to Austin Davidson in the ninth.

With the win, the Dash finish their home slate in 2016 against Potomac with a 4-3 record. Winston-Salem is also now 4-0-2 in home series since the beginning of June.

The Dash now begin a four-game set against Myrtle Beach on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. The Dash send right-hander Jordan Stephens (4-7, 3.57 ERA) to the hill against Myrtle Beach righty Jake Stinnett (7-3, 4.23 ERA). The Pregame Dash begins at 6:15 p.m., and fans can tune in on wsdash.com/broadcast, MiLB.TV and the TuneIn Radio App.
